The Teen Digital Media Facilitator position is a temporary position on the Youth Initiatives Team in the Learning Center. It will report to the Senior Manager of Youth Initiatives and Digital Media Studio.
This position will work closely with the Youth Initiatives division co-facilitating and co-developing digital media/arts programming for Spring teen programs including After School Matters.
Qualified applicants will have experience in digital media and art. Those with experience in the teaching in formal or informal settings, youth development, or program evaluation are encouraged to apply.
Preferred skills and experiences
Experience with working with teens and young adults with a strong desire for teen and young adult development
Understanding of working with Digital Media programs such as Procreate and the Adobe Suite
Experience in graphic design, art, and multimedia and experience with giving and receiving formal and informal critique and feedback on art to peers.
An interest in youth engagement and programming
Exceptional communicator with outstanding written, organizational, analytical, time management, and interpersonal skills
Detail oriented; excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
High level of initiative and exceptional problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Must demonstrate comfort in a team environment, with strong collaboration skills
Coordination and Support
Working under the guidance of the Teen Digital Media Coordinator, the facilitator will participate in curriculum development and provide logistical support to After School Matters programming. They will work with Chicagoland teens who participate in the Digital Media track of programs offered in partnership with After School Matters. They will join weekly meetings, contribute to the development of the programs, and provide key assistance to the Teen Digital Media Coordinator for administrative components of this work.
Qualifications
Weekend availability on Saturdays
Experience managing educational and/or public programs in museums, libraries, or a related humanities/informal learning field
Demonstrated experience in the development of innovative programming for out-of-school time, family, school, and public audiences
Well-developed commitment to collaborative leadership and the ability to manage and grow a team’s skills
Demonstrated experience welcoming, valuing, and engaging positively with people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as supporting and promoting an environment that welcomes differences and diversity
Required for hire:
Pass a fingerprint and background check via After School Matters
Complete CPS Background check
CPR Certification
Pay: $20.00/hourly
