Exhibits Media Integration Supervisor

Our Mission: Since the 1893 World Columbian Exposition, our organization has aimed to connect people to the natural environment and human history.

Under minimal supervision, works on, and supervises a team that: performs preventative maintenance, monitors, troubleshoots, and repairs exhibitions audio-visual, software, and control systems. Installs projectors and players for new exhibits. Strong technical knowledge is desired to provide support for the normal day-to-day operation of Exhibits within The Field Museum. Reports to the Exhibits Production Director for the maintenance of audio-visual equipment and team supervision.

Leads the team to install audio-visual equipment and media for new permanent and temporary exhibitions. Lights temporary exhibitions using the existing lighting grid.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily operational support, inspection, start-up, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of Exhibition A/V Technology.
  • Supervises the Exhibits Media Integration Tech I, II and III positions.
  • Provide coordination with outside vendors for research, design, configuration, integration, and testing of Exhibition audio-visual equipment and control systems to be used in the maintenance of permanent Exhibitions.
  • Inputs budget numbers for projectors, players, loudspeakers, and monitors
  • Troubleshooting of hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues on audio-visual equipment and Exhibition AMX control systems.
  • Provides a supportive environment for the Exhibits Media Integration staff.
  • Will coordinate with outside vendors on specialized and larger projects.
  • Leads the install and takedown of permanent, temporary, and traveling exhibitions
  • Keep digital records relating to audio-visual equipment, systems, and maintenance
  • May be requested to travel for Field Museum exhibitions
  • Performs other appropriate job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent education/experience is required
  • InfoComm Certified Technology Specialist or a minimum of four (4) years of audio-video set-up, troubleshooting, maintenance, install/de-install experience
  • Strong Audio-Visual technical knowledge and troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain audio-visual control systems
  • Working knowledge of routers, switches, networking, and telecommunications
  • May need to occasionally work a flexible schedule; early morning, day, evening, and weekend hours, when needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to use ladders and operate personnel scissors and mast lifts
  • Work individually and as part of a team with other museum departments
